The Wildlife Society's SF Bay Area Chapter Professional Speaker Series with Krysta Rogers and Jaime Rudd occurred on July 26, 2021.
Additional information on the Speakers:
Krysta Rogers is a Senior Environmental Scientist at the Wildlife Health Laboratory for the California
Department of Fish and Wildlife. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in wildlife at
Humboldt State University. She began her career with CDFW in 2007 and is the statewide lead for avian
investigations performing disease, pesticide, and mortality investigations on a diversity of wild birds. She
also provides support for CDFW staff for avian species regarding biology and ecology, species and parts
identification, and live-trapping and handling.
Jaime Rudd is a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) at the Wildlife Health Laboratory (WHL). She received her bachelor’s degree in cellular/molecular biology and minored in wildlife management at Humboldt State University in May 2011. She later obtained her PhD in Animal Biology at the University of California, Davis in September 2019. Dr. Rudd began her career at CDFWs WHL in 2011 performing necropsies, working with WHL veterinarians and environmental scientists investigating wildlife mortalities, and conducting disease and toxicology surveillance on
various California carnivores. She has worked as a wildlife technician for the Integral Ecology Research Center and later
became a wildlife ecologist for the Endangered Species Recovery Program, and has worked as a veterinary technician for over 10 years. Currently, she is the statewide pesticide coordinator, provides support for the wildlife rehabilitation program, and continues to perform disease and mortality investigations for CDFW.
