Rare Shoreline Species Workshop

Attendees of the two-day Rare Shoreline Species Workshop will have the opportunity to learn about four federally- and state- listed species in both a lecture and field setting. Our species experts will review the habitat, range, life history, and field identification tips for the following:

California Ridgway’s Rail, Federally and State Endangered

Western Snowy Plover, Federally Threatened, State Species of Special Concern

California Least Tern, Federally and State Endangered

Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse, Federally and State Endangered

The lecture portion will be held via Zoom. The field portion will include visits to Eden Landing Ecological Reserve to view Ridgway's rails, least terns, snowy plovers, and habitat for salt marsh harvest mice. Goals of the workshop will be for attendees to leave with a comprehensive understanding of each species’ habitats and the tools to reliably identify the four species in the field. No handling of any of the listed species will occur, but we will make an effort to see each species during the field portion.

REGISTRATION: The registration price of the workshop is $345 if you are not a current member of the TWS SF Bay Chapter. If you are a current member the early registration cost of the workshop is $295. A limited number of student tickets will be available for a discounted price of $100. After registration, we will check to ensure your membership is current if you have used the membership price.
